From Seed to Studio

Studio Aflora is a ceramic practice rooted in slow, intentional making and inspired by the quiet rhythms of the natural world.

Founded in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland by artist Madison Nixon, Studio Aflora creates one of a kind handmade pieces that celebrate the tactile beauty of raw clay and the subtle tones found in nature.

Nature has always been the muse. Raw, evolving, imperfect, and endlessly beautiful. The name Aflora was born from this connection. A quiet nod to the flora and fauna that surround us, and to the living thread between art, people, and place.

Each object, whether a plate, bowl, or sculptural form, is designed to feel grounded and quietly essential in the home.

Originally emerging into the world of ceramics through colour rich, expressive works, Studio Aflora has evolved into a more scaled back and thoughtful collection. Today, the focus lies in refined silhouettes, earthy textures, and a tonal palette that draws directly from the land.

Studio Aflora remains rooted in its original ethos. Art and nature are meant to be lived with, not just looked at. This new chapter honours that vision in a softer way, by inviting calm, connection, and craft into the rhythm of everyday life.
